THE LUTHIER

My name is Antonio Giovannini. I was born and lived in Trentino until the age of 35. Since 2001, I have lived in Caraglio, in the province of Cuneo. I am married and have 4 children.

Fascinated since childhood by the possibility of working with wood, I dedicated myself to sculpture. Later, as a teenager, I learned to play the piano and the guitar. I tried my hand at songwriting and from there, step by step, I have published four CDs and written and composed music for several musicals.

A few years ago, almost as a joke, I tried to merge these two passions: shaping wood and composing music. The idea of being able to make a piece of wood "sing" particularly fascinated me, and so I tried to build a guitar. I couldn't stop! The emotion of playing a self-built instrument and the positive recognition of my work by some guitarist friends pushed me to continue.

CONSTRUCTION INNOVATIONS

The keyword that drives me to start every new project is: EXPERIMENTATION. I’ve designed new bracing systems for both the soundboard and the back, eventually patenting and presenting the DNA bracing at "Cremonamondomusica" 2016. This is a top reinforcement system that gives the musician a unique tone, whose sweetness has won over the musicians who regularly use Angy guitars both on stage and in the recording studio.

In addition to the sound performance, I focused on the ergonomics of the instrument, especially the neck, the guitarist's main point of contact. I therefore designed the asymmetrical section neck. it introduces two innovations:

It allows the left hand more support in the lower area of the neck (high E string area), thus avoiding the "edge" effect of traditional necks.
It features a significant thinning in the upper area, resulting in increased comfort.
Furthermore, to increase smoothness, Angy necks are always finished with oil and not varnish (Tru-oil, Tung oil, or Linseed oil).

Many of those who use or have tried an Angy have been struck by the comfort and smoothness of the neck. The immediate comment from some was: "It feels like playing an electric!"

SOLIDARITY GUITAR

The main goal of Angy is that this lutherie passion of mine does not remain an end in itself but can represent a small source of hope for people who are, in some ways, less fortunate than me.

For this reason, Angy Guitars aims to financially support “Casa Madre Teresa”.

This facility was opened in 2008 in the Andes in Peru with the idea of welcoming abandoned disabled children. Daniela Salvaterra, a volunteer nurse born in Tione di Trento, works here, and it currently hosts about a hundred women and children with various types of difficulties (physical and mental).

30% (net of expenses) of the proceeds from the sale of each guitar will be donated via bank transfer to Casa Madre Teresa. This 30% transfer can be deducted from your tax return at 30%.

The following video tells the story of Alexis, a special angel who, until recently, lived in the Casa Madre Teresa. The video is taken from the book that Daniela wanted to dedicate to him after his departure for heaven.

CUSTOM AND EXCLUSIVE GUITARS

Every ANGY guitar is born from a direct dialogue with the musician.
In addition to instruments ready for delivery, we offer the possibility to configure every detail of your guitar, transforming a personal idea into a unique instrument, custom-built for you.

You can freely choose the body shape, tonewoods, finishes, neck profile, fretboard, bridge, tuners, any amplification system, and every construction element based on your tonal, aesthetic, and ergonomic needs. Every choice is evaluated together, with care and expertise, to ensure balance, quality, and tonal consistency.

Angy Guitars also offers two particularly exclusive models:

1. CENTURIES-OLD – limited edition

The guitar features a soundboard made from a 240-year-old Spruce! A TRUE RARITY! The symbols contained in the various details (rosette in the shape of an antique clock, gold ingot at the 12th fret, and the birth year of the spruce shown on the headstock) are intended to tell the story of the secular and exclusive aspect of the instrument.

2. ALCHIMIA – with back and sides in Laburnum

Alchimia (Alchemy), because Laburnum is a “magical” wood. In May/June, it colors the mountain slopes yellow. It has been used since ancient times for the construction of bows and work tools, given its hardness, elasticity, and resistance to weathering. Even the golden color recalls the alchemies of the late Middle Ages, and its highly poisonous fruit also gives this wood a certain mysterious quality. It is also called European Rosewood. The plant grows as a “bush,” and for this reason, it is very difficult to come across long and full-bodied trunks, so every Alchimia is an exclusive guitar!
